Arrest after man found unconscious in Hartlepool street

A MAN was taken to hospital with a head injury after potentially being assaulted in an incident in Hartlepool.

Police and ambulance services were called to the scene in Kingsley Avenue, off Oxford Road, in Hartlepool, where a 56-year-old man was lying unconscious.

He was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees, in Stockton, by ambulance, with a head injury at around 12.30am on Sunday.

Officers from Hartlepool police arrested a younger man in connection with the incident.

They have since released him on bail pending further inquiries.

The victim was discharged from hospital to return home later on Sunday.

A spokeswoman for Cleveland police said: “Police and ambulance were called to a male with a head injury in Kingsley Avenue.

“He was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees in Stockton.

“A man was arrested and has been bailed pending further inquiries.”
