Arrests after man’s leg broken

TWO teenagers were arrested after a man suffered a broken leg and ankle when he was hit by a car.

Police said the 40-year-old was struck by a black Renault Megane in The Parade, Hartlepool, close to the gates of Ward Jackson Park.

He was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees, in Stockton, to have the fractures treated after the incident at around 9.15pm on Sunday, December 18.

An 18-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman from the Billingham area were arrested on suspicion of wounding and were questioned by police.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses to the collision.
