A woman has been arrested after an alleged arson attack on a Hartlepool home in which three people, including a five-year-old child, were sleeping.
The three were woken at around 3am by the smell of burning at the house in Troutpool Close.
A 32-year-old man was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees with breathing difficulties but has since been discharged. No-one else was hurt.
A 39-year-old woman from the Hartlepool area has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. She remains in custody.
