POLICE are investigating a spate of incidents involving ball-bearings being fired at homes and smashing windows.
There have been five crimes in the early part of this week alone.
On Sunday, three reports were logged of windows being damaged in Peterlee, at a house in Acre Rigg Road, a house in Basingstoke Road and at the Central Club in the town. The following day houses in Glenholme Terrace, Blackhall and Lowhills Road, Peterlee, were targeted.
Police say some sort of catapult is thought to have been used and it is suspected the offenders will have been in a vehicle, possibly a small dark-coloured car.
Detective Sergeant Steve Thubron, of Peterlee CID, said: “These are completely random and high-powered attacks.
“We need to try and found out who has done this before someone gets hurt.”
Anyone with information should call Det Sgt Thubron on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
