A BANNED driver who was caught behind the wheel of his wife’s car has to wait to learn his fate.
Stuart Morgan was stopped driving the Citroen C5 car in Stockton Road, Hartlepool, and checks showed he was a banned driver.
The 43-year-old’s previous disqualification was not due to end until later this month.
Prosecuting, Joanne Hesse told Hartlepool Magistrates’ Court: “It was 10.30am and the defendant was stopped driving a Citroen C5 car.
“The defendant was revealed as being a disqualified driver.
“He fully admitted the offence in interview and said the vehicle belonged to his wife.”
Morgan, of Nottingham Walk, Hartlepool, pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and driving without insurance, both on January 30.
Mitigating, Neil Taylor, said: “My client is a working man, a family man and father-of-two. There are no aggravating features to this offence.
“He accepts at the time that it was his wife’s vehicle and he took the vehicle on an errand of mercy but took the vehicle and drove it.”
Chairman of the bench Patricia Tarbitt adjourned sentencing Morgan until Friday, March 24, once the Probation Service has completed a pre-sentence report.
