TWO men were arrested after a cannabis farm worth between £50,000 and £80,000 was found inside an industrial unit.
The men, aged 48 and 39 and from Peterlee, were held after officers from Peterlee CID’s crime time raided a unit in Parsons Road, on the town’s North East Industrial Estate.
The 80 plants, in various stages of growth, from seedlings to mother plants, along with associated paraphernalia, including tents, lights, liquid seed and ventilation systems were discovered by officers during Tuesday morning’s raid.
Both men were arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis and the 39-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs, after a quantity of cocaine was found at his home address.
The pair have been bailed until August, pending further inquiries.
Anyone with information about illegal drugs activity in the East Durham area is urged to contact Peterlee Police on 101 or Crimestoppers.
