A TRAGIC dad who stole more than £10,000 from a social club has been warned that he could be jailed.
David Jowsey, 49, pleaded guilty at Teesside Crown Court to the theft of £10,851 from Belle Vue Way Social Club, in Hartlepool.
His case was adjourned for pre-sentence reports after Recorder Ray Singh heard Jowsey’s partner and daughter had died during the last five years, leaving Jowsey in a “delicate” state.
Recorder Singh told Jowsey, of Wynnstay Gardens, Hartlepool: “I’m giving no indication of what the sentence is likely to be.
“All sentence options are available, including, if the court feels it’s appropriate, custody.”
Jowsey was given bail with the condition not to contact prosecution witnesses.
He will be sentenced for the offence that took place between March 4 and March 13, 2007, in eight weeks time.
Peter Sabiston, mitigating, told the court: “He is receiving assistance from the local health trust so I would ask for medical and psychiatric reports to see if any more assistance can be offered in the community.”
