Drug-fuelled driver caught with knife after road swoop by police in Hartlepool

Road cops sniffed out a crime after catching out a drug-fuelled driver in possession of a knife in Hartlepool.

Keen-eyed officers from Durham and Cleveland Road Policing Unit stopped the motorist shortly after midnight in the Owton Manor area of the town.

The driver was given a roadside test, which proved positive for both cannabis and cocaine.

A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a knife in the glove box.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and possession of a bladed article.

He has since been charged and is due to appear before magistrates.
