Eight people fined for littering in Hartlepool – clocking up £14,300 in fines

Eight people from the Hartlepool area were among 40 ordered to pay more than £14,300 combined for committing littering offences.

The cases, brought by Durham County Council, were heard at Peterlee Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

Following the court proceedings, Ian Hoult, neighbourhood protection manager at the council, said: “Littering is an issue that is raised on a regular basis by our communities.

“We have a beautiful county and this spoils how it looks and is costly to remove.

“The volume of prosecutions shows how seriously we take this.”

The eight from the Hartlepool area fined were:

Trina Louise Creswell, 33, John Street, Easington; no plea, found guilty; £200 fine, £130 costs and £20 victim surcharge.

Vicky Louise Currer, 24, Crook Terrace, Shotton Colliery; no plea, found guilty; £200 fine, £130 costs, £20 victim surcharge.

Paul Martin Lawrence, 54, Front Street, Wingate; guilty; £37 fine, £130 costs, £20 victim surcharge.

Claire Colette Mason, 25, Harrison Terrace, Easington; guilty; £37 fine, £130 costs, £20 victim surcharge.

Amanda Remmer, 36, Third Street, Blackhall; no plea, found guilty; £200 fine, £130 costs, £20 victim surcharge.

Margaret Rose Remmer, 61, Meadow Avenue, Blackhall; no plea, found guilty; £200 fine, £130 costs, £20 victim surcharge.

Paul Kevin White, 30, St Aidens Terrace, Trimdon Station; no plea, found guilty; £200 fine, £130 costs, £20 victim surcharge.

Ashley Wilkinson, 27, Richmond Terrace, Haswell; no plea, found guilty; £200 fine, £130 costs and £20 victim surcharge.
