THE family of Hartlepool man Scott Fletcher has spoken of their heartache on the eve of the first anniversary of him going missing.
Scott, 27, was last seen at around 8.20pm on May 11 last year in the lay-by opposite the Jet garage on the A181 at Wheatley Hill.
His distraught family have made several appeals for information and today have released a new picture of him through the police to help the public recognise him.
The search for Scott has extended to the Durham, Cumbria and Liverpool areas as it is believed he has connections there.
His family are concerned Scott has missed a number of milestones involving his daughter Lucie and stepson Bradley.
Scott’s mum, Julie Fletcher, said: “This last year has been a very painful and worrying time for all of us as we still do not know what has happened to our much loved son Scott.
“It concerns us that Scott has missed so many important milestones, including his daughter Lucie’s fifth birthday, Bradley’s seventh birthday and Lucie’s first day at school, and I know that as a father he would have participated fully in those events.
“We are now extremely concerned for Scott’s safety and I would appeal once again to anyone with any information to contact Crimestoppers or Missing People – and I would assure people that these calls are totally confidential.”
Detective Chief Inspector Jon Green, of Hartlepool Police, said: “With the first anniversary of Scott’s disappearance approaching, his family are increasingly desperate for him to come home and we are still very concerned about his whereabouts.
“One year on, we are still encouraging any members of the public with any information at all, even if it is the tiniest scrap of information, to come forward and speak to us.”
Anyone with information regarding Scott’s whereabouts is asked to contact Det Chief Insp Green on (01642) 302110 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
