FIRE chiefs have vowed to take action after receiving a malicious call from a block of flats.

Two crews from Stranton Fire Station were called to a report of a fire in Titan House, in York Road, Hartlepool, around 8.40pm on Saturday but could not find a fire when they arrived.

It emerged that a glass call alarm in near a rear door had been smashed. No-one had to be evacuated.

Watch manager Andy Robinson said: “We will be following that up. It was a malicious call. We will be looking at CCTV. We are pro-active now in making sure it doesn’t become a problem and are contacting the owners.”

A crew from the station also attended a bush fire in Rossmere Way around an hour later.
