Police have arrested five men after an alleged serious sex attack on a teenager.
Officers were called to Blackhall on the night of Monday, August 26, after reports that the girl had been assaulted.
Detectives immediately launched an investigation and carried out inquiries which then led to the arrests being made.
Police say the five have been arrested on suspicion of committing serious sexual offences.
The men, who are aged between 17 and 27, are all from the Hartlepool area.
They spent yesterday being questioned in custody at Peterlee Police Station.
A police spokesman said: “Five men were arrested on suspicion of serious sexual offences after a teenage girl was attacked in the Blackhall area.
“The men aged between 17 and 27 are all from the Hartlepool area and are currently in police custody at Peterlee Police station.”
