Girls, 13 and 14, charged with murder after death of Hartlepool woman

TWO teenage girls have been charged with the murder of Hartlepool woman Angela Wrightson.

Ms Wrightson, was found dead in her home in the town’s Stephen Street on Tuesday morning.

A cordon was erected sealing off the street while detectives and scenes of crime experts carried out their investigations.

Cleveland Police today said two teenage girls, aged 13 and 14 years old, have now been charged with her murder.

They are due to appear before magistrates this morning.

A post-mortem examination found she died as a result of blood loss and she had suffered substantial injuries.

Ms Wrightson, who had a problem with alcohol, was well known to the police and the courts with drunken behaviour regularly getting her into trouble.

The 39-year-old, who was declared a “habitual drunkard” by magistrates, was given a two-year Asbo that banned her from buying alcohol anywhere in Britain.
