A GRANDMOTHER left fighting for life after suffering serious head injuries is making a slow recovery in hospital.
Jean Pounder, 61, was in a critical condition when she was rushed to hospital by paramedics just after midnight on Monday, August 22.
She is said to have made a partial recovery and is said to be now “stable” in hospital, while police continue to investigate how she came about the wounds.
The two men, aged 60 and 35, who were arrested in the early hours of the Monday remain on police bail as detectives continue to investigate what happened during the night at her home in Studley Road, Hartlepool.
The house was taped off by police as investigators went into the end-terraced home after Mrs Pounder was taken to the James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough.
Neighbours told the Mail of their shock after seeing police outside the house, saying they live in a quiet street and the family were “no bother”.
It is thought Jean lived in the house with her husband Dave.
They are parents to Andrew and Jonathan, and are said to have recently become grandparents.
Police also appealed to speak to two walkers who are believed to have helped Mrs Pounder home at around 1.30pm on Saturday, August 20.
