Hartlepool biker suffers serious injuries in road crash

A Hartlepool biker was airlifted to hospital after suffering serious injuries in a Yorkshire road crash.

The 34-year-old sustained back and chest injuries after a collision between his Suzuki motorcycle and a Mercedes CL Class car on the Guisborough to Whitby Road route on the A171.

Police have launched an appeal for information into the smash, which took place at about 4pm on Sunday between the turn-offs to Egton and Aislaby.

The rider was airlifted to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough.

His injuries are described as serious but not life-threatening.

The driver of the Mercedes, a 38-year-old man from Stockton, was uninjured.

Police in North Yorkshire are appealing for witnesses to the collision and to anyone who saw the vehicles prior to the crash, to contact them.
