POLICE say Hartlepool is being hit by a “high number” of mobile phone thefts.
The Hartlepool Integrated Neighbourhood Team is now appealing for people to help cut down the amount of reports they receive about devices being stolen in the town.
A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said: “Hartlepool is still experiencing a high number of reports of mobile phone thefts.
“We are urging people to be careful when out socializing and leaving mobile phones on bars or tables.
“The loss of these items can be very distressing to the owner as they often store a vast amount of personal information.
“Please be vigilant and report anything or anyone acting suspiciously.”
Police are asking people to record information about their phone, such as network, model, serial number and the IMEI number.
Call Cleveland Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously 0800 555111.
