Police officers have been given advice about parking properly after a patrol car was spotted on Google Maps partially parked on yellow lines.

Messages on appropriate parking have been issued to officers at Hartlepool Police after the website captured the image of a marked car parked on yellow lines.

A member of the public came across the sight ,which shows the car parked in Lauder Street next to Hartlepool Police Station.

The street – which has designated police bays – shows the car parked illegally outside of the bay.

A Cleveland Police spokesman said: “Due to the image being taken on an unknown date and time and the registration number being unavailable, we are unable to speak to the officer who was driving this vehicle when it was parked regarding the circumstances of why it was parked in this manner, however, messages have been issued to all officers regarding appropriate parking.”
