Helicopter called in during Hartlepool police pursuit

A POLICE pursuit was launched after a driver refused to stop for officers.

The incident began in Catcote Road at around 11.40am after the white car-van failed to pull over.

The Mail understands damage was caused by the car to a junction box was knocked down on Oxford Road, leaving homes without telephone or Sky connections.

Cleveland Police say the pursuit lasted for a short time before officers made the decision to abandon their efforts, with the force’s helicopter also called in as part of the search.

Investigations to trace the driver are ongoing.
