THE jury in the trial of Hartlepool darts player Tony Eccles has been sent home after failing to reach any verdicts on Monday.

Eccles, 44, denies five rapes and five allegations of indecent assault he is accused of carrying out on a schoolgirl many years ago.

The jury of nine women and three men spent part of Monday morning rewatching a video of the alleged victim’s account to police.

Judge George Moorhouse has asked the jury to try to return unanimous verdicts.

Eccles, of Northgate, Hartlepool, was been accompanied at court by a group of supporters as he has for most of the two-week trial.
