A van driver has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after a road crash with a taxi in Hartlepool last night.

Police were called out to Grange Road in the town at 10.15pm after a collision between a Renault Panel van and a Skoda Octavia taxi.

The 50-year-old van driver was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

He remains in custody being quizzed by officers.

Nobody was injured in the crash.

A Cleveland Police spokesman said: "Police were called to Grange Road in Hartlepool after a collision involving a taxi and a blue van.

"The 50-year-old van driver has been arrested of driving while unfit through drink.

"He remains in custody."
