Man headbutted in beer garden

POLICE are investigating after a pubgoer was headbutted in a beer garden.

Officers say the 20-year-old man was also threatened with a glass during the unprovoked attack outside Loons, a bar in Victoria Road, Hartlepool.

They are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the assault at around 12.30am on Sunday, February 26, to come forward.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: “A 20-year-old local man suffered an unprovoked attack at Loons Bar.

“He was threatened with a glass then headbutted, causing him minor injuries.”

Police say door staff stepped in to separate the two men but they believe the attacker stayed inside the pub “for a while”.

The suspect is described as white, aged 22 or 23-years-old, of stocky build and around 5ft 10in tall.

He had short, dark brown, spiky hair and was wearing dark blue jeans and a light grey, short sleeve T-shirt. He also had a large tattoo on his upper arm.

Anyone who witnessed the assault or who has information about it is asked to contact PC Daniel Short, of Hartlepool Police, on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
