Dean Barber, 30, of Hurworth House, Wingate, appeared at Peterlee Magistrates’ Court in connection with a disturbance that happened in North Road West, Wingate, at 10pm on Sunday, near to the Top House pub and Regency pizza shop.

A man in his early 50s, who had been out for the evening with his wife, is alleged to have been hit over the head with a wine bottle while his 16-year-old daughter is said to have been hit in the face.
