Police are hunting a man who is said to have picked up a six-year-old girl in one of two worrying incidents in Hartlepool.
Cleveland Police say the youngster was approached whilst riding her bicycle on a grassed area on Pope Grove at 12.30pm on Sunday.
The man is alleged to have picked up the girl and carried her for a short distance before putting her back down on the ground.
The suspect is described as a white male, around 5ft 8” to 5ft 10” tall, and of slim build. He had short, mousey hair and was wearing a red zip-up jacket and blue jeans.
A further incident was reported to police at 7.45pm on Monday evening, when a nine-year-old girl was also approached by a male on Pope Grove. He spoke to the girl and then left the area.
The male is described as having blond curly hair, wearing navy jeans and a black fur-type waist-length coat.
Officers say they are linking the two incidents due to their location.
Extensive house to house enquiries have been carried out and extra patrols have been conducted in the area.
