Met Police swoop on Hartlepool home to arrest prison officer

A prison officer has been arrested in Hartlepool.

Met Police officers from Operation Elveden this morning arrested a 45-year old man for misconduct in a public office (contrary to common law).

The man, a serving prison officer, was arrested at an address in Hartlepool.

He remains in custody at this time.

Operation Elveden is an ongoing British police investigation, which was opened as a result of documents provided by News International to the Operation Weeting investigation.

The operation is an investigation into allegations of inappropriate payments to police being supervised by the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
