Motorist charged with causing death of Billingham pensioner

POLICE have charged a motorist with causing the death of 65-year-old Alan Brown.

Mr Brown, from Billingham, died after being hit by a car on October 31, 2012, near a railway line in Stockton Road, between Middlesbrough and Thornaby.

A 37-year-old man has now been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and is due to appear at Teesside Magistrates’ Court on June 25.

Mr Brown had retired shortly before his death, having worked in the Billingham area as a road sweeper for Stockton Council for several years.
