MOTORISTS are being reminded to lock their cars and vans after a spate of thefts from vehicles in a Hartlepool neighbourhood.

Police say there has been an increase in thefts from unlocked vehicles in the Foggy Furze ward.

The offences have mainly occurred overnight in the area around Oxford Road, Ventnor Avenue and Haswell Avenue over the last few weeks.

Sat navs, iPods, car radios, CD and other personal belongings have all been stolen.

Drivers are also reminded to remember that central locking does not always work if a door is not shut properly and owners should never leave valuables in their car for any length of time.
