Police are now appealing for information after the 77-year-old woman was approached by two men who attempted to grab her bag.

The shocking incident happened after the pensioner left the Engineers Club, in Raby Road, and walked across Wesley Square towards the Wilkinson store, in Victoria Road, at around 11.15pm on Monday, June 10.

The victim managed to hold on to her bag but was pushed to the ground. A glass bottle which was in a carrier bag she was holding smashed, which caused the two men to flee, but the pensioner still suffered bruising to the fingers on her left hand, her left wrist, arm and shoulder.
