FIREFIGHTERS were called to put out a blaze at an old boat yard building.
One appliance from Stranton Fire Station attended the incident on the Pilot Pier, on the Headland.
They were alerted of the blaze at around 9pm on Saturday.
Firefighters were forced to chop down the door to get into the old building and put the blaze out.
An investigation was launched yesterday to discover how the fire started.
Jason Wood, watch manager at Stranton Station, said: “It’s too early to say how the fire was started. An investigation has been launched to find out.
“We got the call about the fire at 9pm on Saturday.
“It was in an old boat yard building and part of the front door was on fire.
“We chopped the door apart to make sure we could put all of the fire out safely.
“All together we were there for about half an hour, putting the fire out.
“Nobody was at the scene on the pier when we arrived.”
