A RUNAWAY car is being hunted by police.

The red vehicle – which was possibly a T-registration Ford Fiesta containing up to five young men – is believed to have been involved in a collision with a black Ford Focus.

Officers say the red car would have suffered extensive front-end damage and the grill fell off and was left at the scene.

The incident happened at around 6.10pm on Friday, June 27, on Lansdowne Road, in the Burn Valley area of Hartlepool.

The red vehicle did not stop at the scene.

A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said officers now want to know its whereabouts.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or anyone who may have information regarding the vehicle or the occupants are asked to contact PC Steph Button on the non-emergency 101 number or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
