A HANDFUL of suspected criminals who were designated a playing card each as part of police initiative are still being sought.

Cleveland Police created a House of Cards, which saw each district given a suit that broke down to 13 wanted people, as part of Operation Tornado.

Hartlepool had the hearts cards and officers have so far arrested 11 of the “pack”.

The two outstanding in the town are Trevor Simpson, 54, who is wanted on a magistrates warrant in connection with a theft on November 25, 1997, and Stephen McMillan, 51, who is wanted on a magistrates warrant in connection with a theft on August 21, last year.

Simon Paul Gray, 37, from Billingham, is also wanted by Stockton Police. He is on a magistrates warrant for failing to comply with a court order on May 25, last year.

Stockton has one other man outstanding, as has Middlesbrough.

Assistant Chief Constable Sean White said: “Operation Tornado has been a fantastic success, leading to a total of 111 people arrested in connection with various incidents across the Cleveland area.

“Members of the public have been extremely supportive of Operation Tornado and I am asking for their support once again as we work to target the remaining five people wanted on warrant from the House of Cards.”

Anyone with information about those wanted should ring Cleveland Police on (01642) 326326.
