Police release CCTV after man left fighting for life in Hartlepool

POLICE have issued CCTV of a man they want to speak to in connection with a brutal attack outside of pub which left a man fighting for his life

Cleveland Police have also cinfirmed they believe the assault on the man near Yates’ bar on Victoria Road and another near the Grand Hotel at around 4am on Sunday ARE linked.

In the first incident in Swainston Street a 24-year-old man suffered serious facial injuries and received treatment at James Cook University Hospital. He has since been discharged.

A second victim, aged 26, was assaulted at around 4.20am at a bus stop near Yates’ bar in Victoria Road.

He suffered serious head injuries and remains in a critical condition in James Cook University Hospital.

Detective Inspector Matt Murphy-King said: “We are releasing this brief CCTV clip in the hope that someone will recognise the man featured and tell us who he is.

“Additionally, we would very much like the man to come forward and speak to us as he may be able to shed some light on exactly what happened early on Sunday morning.”

The man is described as white, wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans. He has tattoos on both arms.
