Police renew crash appeal

POLICE have renewed their appeals for witnesses to a crash that left a man fighting for his life.

A red Suzuki Swift smashed into a parked car and a wall in Sea View Terrace, on Hartlepool’s Headland, at around midnight on Saturday, August 20.

Investigators had appealed for anyone with information about the incident to come forward and want to speak to people who saw the vehicle before it crashed.

The 24-year-old driver was rushed to hospital with multiple injuries and his condition was described as critical. He is now said to be stable.

His passenger, a 24-year-old woman was also taken to the University Hospital of North Tees, in Stockton, with a fractured hip and is said to be currently in a comfortable condition.

The car had been driven along Marine Drive onto Sea View Terrace before hitting the wall and car at the junction with Corporation Road.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: “Police are particularly interested in the movement of the vehicle prior to the collision.”
