A BURGLAR who raided a restaurant has been jailed for 12 weeks.

Ronald Charles O’Keefe made his way into the Quattro Mori restaurant in Church Street, Hartlepool, and helped himself to a number of items including:

• a safe,

• £200 cash,

• keys,

• a charity box,

The 29-year-old was arrested by police and questioned at Hartlepool Police Station where he was then charged with burglary.

O’Keefe, of Longscar Walk, in the Burbank area of town, appeared before Hartlepool Magistrates’ Court.

He pleaded guilty to the break-in which happened on May 21.

Justices heard an outline of the offence from the Crown Prosecution Service and mitigation on behalf of the defendant, and then sentenced him to 12 weeks in prison.

Another man is expected to appear in court in connection with the offence this week.
