A MAN was left with a £165 court bill after calling a police officer “little man” on a night out.
Craig Theasby was with his girlfriend in Church Street, Hartlepool, around 2.30am, when he got into a row with bouncers at Shades pub.
Hartlepool Magistrates’ Court heard the 28-year-old was drinking from a can he had hold of and was spoken to by patrolling police officers.
Prosecutor Joanne Hesse said: “During the course of the conversation he became aggressive and swore at one of the police officers calling him a ‘little man’. He was arrested.”
Theasby, of Amberton Road, Hartlepool, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in a public place on March 25.
Mitigating, Stuart Haywood said: “He accepts he was drunk and he accepts he was drunk and disorderly.
“However, when officers started to search him he became frustrated because he didn’t believe they had grounds to search him.”
Chairman of the bench Geoff Morley fined him £65, ordered him to pay £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
