A SECOND man has been charged after a shopkeeper’s high-powered car was stolen from outside his shop.
A 38-year-old Hartlepool man was arrested in connection in which a Volkswagen Touraeg car was stolen.
The vehicle is said to have been taken from outside The Village Store, in Wingate Lane, Wheatley Hill.
A 26-year-old man, from east Durham, was arrested last week in connection with the incident, which took place on February 13.
The 38-year-old is alleged to have gone into the shop and stolen the car keys before fleeing in the car.
Police say the 26-year-old followed in another car.
The 38-year-old is due to appear at Peterlee Magistrates’ Court on March 23 and the 26-year-old will appear on March 16.
Police are still trying to trace the stolen Volkswagen, which has a registration M700 ABY.
