POLICE are appealing for help to find a man who absconded from an open prisoen - and he could be in the North East.

Lincolnshire Police are appealing for sightings and information about Johnathan Todd, who absconded from HMP North Sea Camp near Boston this morning.

Johnathan Todd, 26, who was serving a sentence for sex offences, absconded between 08.30am and 11.50am today.

He has connections in the North East, and may be travelling back to the Newcastle or Darlington area.

Lincolnshire Police are liaising with Northumbria Police in an effort to trace him.

Todd is about 5ft 7in, of slight build, with brown, closely shaven hair and a receding hairline.

He is described as young looking, and may be wearing a black and white zigzag-style woollen hat with ear pieces.

Police are warning the public not to approach him and to contact them immediately with any sightings.
