POLICE have vowed to continue their fight against drugs after finding suspected cocaine and cannabis during a raid.
Officers closed off Wordsworth Avenue, in Hartlepool, as the town’s drug unit swooped on a house.
Three people were arrested as part of the raid and a quantity of the suspected class A and B drugs were taken away to be tested.
Police sniffer dogs and neighbourhood officers were involved in the operation that saw police smash their way into the home in the Oxford Road area of town.
Investigators say the community play a vital role in tackling drug dealing in the town and are urging anyone who suspects illegal activity where they live to get in touch.
Detective Sergeant Daryll Tomlinson said: “We will continue in our fight against drug activity in Hartlepool.
“Those that blight the lives of others in local communities will be dealt with robustly”.
A 26-year-old man has been charged with possession of a class A and class B drug in connection with the raid on Thursday evening. He has been bailed to attend Hartlepool Magistrates’ Court next month.
A 20-year-old man was cautioned for possession of a class B drug. Another man, aged 46, who was also arrested, has been released with no further action.
Anyone with information regarding drugs activity in the community is asked to contact the confidential drugs line at Hartlepool on (01642) 302181 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
