Teenager arrested in connection with alleged Billingham sex attack

A teenager has been arrested after a woman reported being sexually assaulted as she walked to her car in Billingham town centre.

The 19-year-old male was released on bail pending further enquiries after he was held on suspicion of sexual assault and theft in an unrelated incident.

It follows a 20-year-old woman reporting that she has been indecently assaulted in the Forum Gym carpark at about 4.4.5pm on Saturday, August 1.

A man is said to have approached her from behind on a bike and sexually assaulted her, before riding off.

The man made off across the road, along the cut at the side of The Causeway and Ravensworth Road, next to the primary school.
