A PENSIONER was pushed to the ground by a teenager as he tried to steal her pet poodle.

The 61-year-old pet owner was walking along Mainsforth Terrace, in Hartlepool, when a man tried to grab the dog lead out of her hand.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: “The woman managed to keep hold of the lead and the man then grabbed the body area of the medium-sized brown poodle and tried to release the lead from the dog’s body harness. He then pushed the woman who fell to the ground, and the man fled without the dog.”

The attack happened between 10am and 10.30am on Thursday, June 13. The man is described as around 19 years old and was wearing a hooded jumper or jacket.
