TWO teenagers arrested over an assault on a 24-year-old man who was left fighting for life have been released by police.
The two 17-year-olds from the Hartlepool area were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm after the victim was found unconscious in the street early on Easter Monday.
Cleveland Police says the suspects have been bailed pending further inquiries while the injured man remains in hospital in a critical condition.
The man was found with significant head injuries by a member of the public at around 12.45am at the junction of Eskdale Road and Eaglesfield Road.
He is believed to have been with friends in The Hourglass pub until around midnight.
He was discovered unconscious around 45 minutes later and taken via ambulance to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.
Shortly before the man was found, three people were reported to have been seen arguing and officers appealed for anyone with information regarding these people to come forward.
