THREE people were arrested in connection with two crashes on Hartlepool’s roads yesterday.
A 34-year-old man was arrested and quizzed by officers on suspicion of driving offences after a lorry and a car collided at Hartlepool’s Burn Road roundabout at around 2.15pm.
Motorists heading into Hartlepool faced delays as the road was closed for around an hour after the smash.
A 62-year-old woman had to be cut free from the car by firefighters and was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees, in Stockton where she was treated for her injuries.
Four fire engines, paramedics and police all attended the scene and the road was re-opened at around 3.15pm.
A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: “We received reports of a crash at Burn Road roundabout at around 2.15pm on Tuesday.
“A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences.”
Meanwhile, two 17-year-old boys were arrested on suspicion of theft in a separate incident in the town yesterday.
Police received reports of a Ford Fiesta speeding around the Owton Manor area of town and located a vehicle in Forfar Road.
Officers then tried to stop the car before it smashed into a lamppost in nearby Dunoon Road. No-one was injured.
