Tip-off leads to drugs raid

POLICE seized drugs worth an estimated £40,000 after a community tip-off.

Officers discovered 40 cannabis plants when they carried out a raid in Enid Gardens, in Blackhall Colliery.

Sergeant Ian Dickinson, of Peterlee Police, said: “We recovered 40 plants worth an estimated £40,000.

“This was down to community intelligence and it was an excellent result for ourselves.”

The operation was carried out at 3pm on Wednesday.

A woman in her mid-30s has been arrested on suspicion of cultivating a Class B drug in connection with the find and has been bailed pending further inquiries.
