A WITNESS told a trial how a hard punch felled a reveller “like a tree” before his attacker walked calmly away.

Philip Moon described seeing Mark Dixon being punched while talking to Paul Sutton in Victoria Road, Hartlepool in the early hours of Sunday, October 5.

Mr Dixon was knocked unconscious and died in hospital six days later.

Sutton, 29, of Fordham Road, Sunderland, denies manslaughter and is standing trial at Teesside Crown Court.

When asked by prosecutor Tim Roberts QC how Mr Dixon fell, Mr Moon said: “I would describe it like a tree. He made no attempt to stop himself.”
