Trap rider ‘serious’ as men bailed

A HORSE and trap rider is in a serious but stable condition in hospital after a collision with a car.

Police say the 32-year-old man is being treated for internal injuries, a fractured pelvis and possible broken right foot in James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough.

His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Three men, aged between 18 and 21 who were travelling in a Renault Megane car, were arrested and questioned by police about the incident.

They have been bailed pending further inquiries.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: “Extensive investigations are ongoing into this matter.”

It followed the incident which happened in Belle Vue Way, Hartlepool, near the Brenda Road roundabout, at around 8.20pm on Sunday.
