TWO men are to appear before a judge charged with the robbery of an off-licence.

Callum James Horsley, 22, and Wayne Rogan, 29, appeared at Hartlepool Magistrates’ Court in custody.

They are each accused of one count of robbery and one of possession of an offensive weapon.

The charges relate to an incident at the Premier Store – also known as Aras Convenience Store – in Northgate on Hartlepool’s Headland, on Tuesday, May 27, where a shop worker is said to have been threatened with a knife.

Two men responsible made off with cash and other items from the store and staff raised the alarm.

Horsley, of Northgate, and Rogan, of Heortness Road, West View, were brought before the bench of justices yesterday.

Neither of the defendants entered pleas to the alleged charges at the court appearance.

Magistrates send the case to be dealt with by a judge at Teesside Crown Court in Middlesbrough.

The pair will appear at the crown court on Thursday, June 12.

Horsley and Rogan were each remanded in custody until that time.
