A MAN arrested on suspicion of a brutal attack on a Hartlepool dad has been released on bail.
The 28-year-old man was taken into custody at Hartlepool Police Station on Tuesday night after being arrested on suspicion of assaulting the victim, who has been named locally as Mark Dixon.
He was questioned by detectives working on the case, which has left residents of the town in shock, and has now been released on bail pending further inquiries by officers.
The news comes at popular Mark continues to fight for survival in the James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, four days after the incident at 4am on Sunday, October 5, in Victoria Road, not far from its junction with York Road.
A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said: “A 28-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assault has been released on bail pending further inquiries.
“Investigations are continuing.
“A 32-year-old man remains in a critical condition in hospital.”
