POLICE have confirmed that the three men arrested on suspicion of the ice axe murder of Mark Denton are still being questioned by detectives today.
Officers arrested a 17-year-old, a 23-year-old and a man in his 20s – who are all from Hartlepool – following the killing of the former town boxer on New Year’s Eve.
One of the men is being held at Hartlepool Police Station, while the other two are in custody at Middlesbrough Police Office.
A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said: “The three men arrested on suspicion of murder are continuing to be questioned by detectives today. The questioning is expected to continue throughout the day.”
Mark died after being attacked with what eye-witnesses said was an ice-axe type weapon at a house party in Hutton Avenue.
The property has been sealed off by police with uniformed officers guarding it from the front and the back while scenes of crime officers (SOCOs) comb the house for evidence.
Two SOCO vehicles have been parked in the street throughout the morning with the forensic experts continuing to walk in and out of the house wearing white suits, boots and face masks and carrying various bottles, plastic gloves and containers.
