THE jury in the sex trial of Hartlepool darts player Tony Eccles will continue to consider their verdicts after being sent home for the weekend.
Eccles, 44, has been standing trial at Teesside Crown Court for almost two weeks on a catalogue of charges.
He denies five counts of rape and a further five of indecent assault that are all alleged to have been committed on the same woman when she was a schoolgirl.
Darts professional Eccles, of Northgate, Hartlepool, has branded the claims as “lies”.
The jury were sent home early on Friday after they asked to watch a video of the woman’s recorded police interview for a second time.
The case had to be adjourned until Monday morning as there was no available court with video playback facilities.
