A WARNING has been issued about threats that have been made to the victim of darts star Tony Eccles.
Eccles, 44, is starting a 16-year jail sentence for “systematic” abuse of a schoolgirl who he repeatedly raped.
The 44-year-old, nicknamed The Viper, was found guilty of five counts of rape and a further five indecent assaults after a 12-day trial at Teesside Crown Court on Tuesday.
During his sentencing, prosecutor Shaun Dodds told the court that threats had been made towards the girl, who cannot be identified, including threats to name her online.
Mr Dodds said: “The police are aware of this and these people would be well advised to desist from such activity.”
