A WOMAN has appeared in court accused of stealing £15,000 worth of jewellery from her employer.

Peterle woman Leslie Marie Gibson, 42, is alleged to have taken the items while she was working for Darren McCormick Jewellery, of Shildon, County Durham.

No plea was taken from Gibson, of Brougham Court, Peterlee, during a short preliminary hearing held at Durham Crown Court.

But Paul Currer, defending, said the allegations would be denied.

Judge Christopher Prince adjourned the case for a plea hearing on November 1.

The judge granted Gibson unconditional bail in the meantime.
